Student Living 4.0
The charm of traditional brick gives modern micro apartments an energy-efficient facade
In the direct vicinity of the renowned “European Business School” in the Hessian Oestrich-Winkel, a student housing complex directly connected with the “campus” of the business school has been built. The “Rhein Village” can be considered a new archetype of student housing concepts, not only regarding its architecture, but also its modern residential comfort.
The design of the two elongated buildings is inspired by the local architecture of regional wineries as well as the height of the three-story campus building. The buildings are connected by a tract providing shared areas for social activities for students on the ground floor – from work and study rooms to relaxation and social rooms with a billiard table. A total of 128 fully furnished micro-apartments, designed as bright and open spaces, are available in different sizes and with different types of layout – they offer everything a student’s heart can ask for in terms of flexible use: Be it “smart” single apartments of 21 m² or double and multi-room apartments with surface areas of up to 98 m² – they all include bathrooms with high-quality equipment and modern built-in kitchens as well as neutral white furniture.
The clinker facade gives the Rhine Village a “face” reflecting awareness of tradition, which makes an exciting contrast to the clear-cut buildings. Indeed, the brick look of the clinker brick slips “Steinlinge” by Ströher in silver-beige revives the charm of old times on a surface area of 1,235 m2. At the same time, however, the facade clinkers are permanently weatherproof, easy to maintain and sustainable – in other words: absolutely in the spirit of the times we live in. In combination with modern insulation systems, clinker brick slips are increasingly chosen as preferred material for energy-efficient facade design complying with the current energy conservation regulations. As an extrusion specialist, Ströher not only offers a large range of clinker brick slips in various design, but also the know-how for manufacturing project-specific products in coordination with architects and building contractors.
